Surrender

Surrender...I chose this word years ago as my word for the year and to the life of me I can't remember why I chose it or what I focused on that year.

This week though I have had to surrender a lot.  This week has been a week of getting convicted of where I have been and not liking it at all.  Conviction is tough isn't it.  You have to make a choice of the direction you want to take.  I have had to remember that I am not in charge.  Sound familiar.  I think we all want to be in charge of something especially our lives.  As believers we have to admit that we aren't.  That is hard.  We are called to surrender to the One who really loves us and who really knows us and who really wants so much more for us.

Part of my surrendering this week had to do with my oldest son.  We had to go for another EEG.  This is the 3rd one in 4 years.  We had been hopeful that he would be weaned off his meds for his seizures as he had been 19 months without one.  Then one fateful Saturday morning in September, I got the call while at Leadership Retreat..."Thomas had a seizure."  It is hard to watch your child go through the trials of life at a young age, yet it repeatedly reminds me that I am not in charge and I have to surrender my son to the One who surrendered His for me.....STOP

I am taking part in Five Minute Friday link up.  Come check it out.

  1. As hard as it is, surrendering to the One who loves us - that brings a peace we cannot comprehend.

  2. Hello FMF neighbor....surrendering our children is probably one of the most challenging surrenders of all! Praying that your son can be med-free one day soon - and for peace until then. Thanks for sharing -
