Simplify

When I used to post Friday's were always an "Caffeinated Randomness" day.  I would post random things.  I started this with my friend Andrea who was blogging at the time and they when she left blogging to pursue some of her dreams in real life I took it over.  However, at the same time we were doing Caffeinated Randomness, there was another meme starting and that is the meme I will be participating with on Friday's.

It was the Five Minute Friday link up or FMF.  The idea was that you get one word and your write only for five minutes.  I have decided to participate in this link up so that I can work on my writing and get a free flow of words out of me.  So here it goes.....

This year I am working on being still.  Part of being still is letting go of everything that distracts me.  Whether that be social media, TV, things that I think I really need to participate in, etc...  It means for me to be still I need to simplify my life.  I need to focus on what is really important and what isn't.

This year I don't per say have any resolutions.  I have goals. Some are as simple as read 110 books with 1/2 being from either my kindle archive (of which I have over 1,000 books apparently) or my bookshelves.  I also want to work on writing which is why I am back here.  I want to declutter my house (don't we all).  I want to get healthy.

To assist me in these goals, I needed to focus on being productive.  Productivity will help me to focus and simplify.  To get read of all the things that distract me and to assist me in achieving my goals.  I have joined Crystal Paine's Productivity Group and have already found that even focusing on 3 things in the morning assisting me in achieving my goals.  I have 3 goals this week for my morning routine: exercise for at least 15 minutes, 30 minutes of Bible Study/Reading and 30 minutes of writing/research.  It seem I am adding things to my life, but in doing so I am simplifying things that really are distractions.

  1. I enjoyed your post and I like the idea of goals much better than resolutions. Choosing our priorities and setting good habits is important. I'm very impressed by your reading goal- that is a lot of books! Visiting from FMF #29

  2. As one who so recommends setting your day by choosing three things to accomplish, I so resonate with how you are choosing to focus! It keeps things simplified and moving! Sounds like you are starting the year in a great way!

    1. Thank you for visiting. I hope I can make these goals into habits. It is something I have struggled in the past.
